    Moms Against Picky Eaters: UNITE!

Before becoming a parent, I always said my child would always eat what I put in front of him and I would not have “picky eaters”. I was a nanny to a lot of kids who would ONLY eat Mac n Cheese or Peanut Butter sandwiches. I am sad to say that I scoffed at the parents thinking this was ALL THEIR FAULT! Now, the idea that I scoffed at ANY parent while an early twenty something WITHOUT kids is just hilarious. I mean, come on!! But I had the idea that if you introduce healthy foods to them early enough, they will learn to like. And it was only on the parent that the kiddos weren’t eating broccoli and salmon for dinner. Boy, was I wrong! Avocados proved my failed hypothesis on the first day of solid foods with Ezra… FIRST DAY!!! And so the journey with my picky eater began. Here’s another thing I didn’t take into consideration: how absolutely impossible it was to give my child a “bit of everything” in those first early stages of food introduction. It was hard enough getting him to be interested in solid foods, but trying to plan each meal so that he was being introduced to every type of food seemed like a huge mountain to scale.

SO! Here is why you should care: Allergies developed as children are becoming more common. Since 77% of people with a food allergy are allergic to something other than peanuts, feeding your child a variety of foods is important. However, this can be difficult to do especially with picky eaters like Ezra. But now there is an easy solution: SpoonfulOne, a daily food mix-in that reduces food allergy risk by training your little one’s system with the foods responsible for most food allergies. Ex: egg, peanut, milk, soy, tree nuts, shellfish, etc. And giving your babes a little bit of everything couldn’t be easier with SpoonfulOne! It’s complete and convenient and comes in proportioned packages… all you have to do it open and add it to your little’s favorite foods!

It’s made of real foods and developed by a pediatrician, allergist and mother of five. Sounds like she knows what’s up. There are no preservatives, no artificial sweeteners or flavors, dye-free, no high-fructose corn syrup. Only the stuff they need.

Sooo my picky eater had a few favorites… and things that SpoonfulOne would be great for:

    Yogurt

    Mashed banana

    Oatmeal

    Strawberry, banana, spinach smoothie

Things he wasn’t so fond of… but would be great options 🙂 (Maybe if I am lucky, Curren will like these things!):

    Mashed avocado

    Mashed sweet potato

    Mashed boiled carrots and peas

Honestly, it is never too late to start. Ezra is still pretty picky so this would give me just a little peace of mind knowing he was getting some exposure even though he doesn’t have any known allergies. But since allergies do run in my family, I plan on using it for Curren once we introduce solid foods, which the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) recommends between 4-6 months.

    5 Fall Skin Care Fixes

Ahh fall… the best time of year. Hands down. Falling leaves, falling temps, falling for everything Pumpkin Spice. While I sit here writing this, I am ACTUALLY eating a bowl of pumpkin pie ice cream. Could I be more #basic? Definitely not. Is it kind of the best thing ever? 100% yes. Yeah, everything seems magical, wonderful and amazing in the fall, but there are a few issues I have. That is, what it does to my skin. So, let’s talk about those crappy seasonal skincare symptoms and what I have been using to combat them with one of my favorite French skin care brands,
    Vichy USA!!  Read more…

    Favorite Fall Boot Round-Up

Fall is finally here! Or… right around the corner anyway. 🙂 I start pullin’ out my booties at the end of summer because I just CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER! Bring on the PSLs and the chunky knits! But until that cold weather hits and gives you a legitimate reason to bundle, pair them with some shorts and you’re golden even in 80 degree + weather. 😂

I’ve rounded up a bunch of my favorites… and in a perfect world I would have all of these in my closet. But let’s get real.  All you really need are a few staples. I love having a camel color or black bootie, an OTK boot and a fun/colored bootie. I also have a pair of cold weather boots. Living in Southern California these are pretty pointless. But for the very few times I travel to the snow in the winter, they come in handy. ✌️

I splurged on the Full Monty Studded Bootie this season… sadly, my feet are wayyyy too swollen to get them on at the moment so I’m just hoping they fit once this baby is here! Keeping fingers (and swollen toes) crossed.

    Baby🌙

    Location: Laguna Beach, California

Babymooning… a much needed getaway with my love, just us. I have a feeling last weekend was the last time we will be able to take a little vacay for a loooong while. Can’t wait for what’s ahead, but that time to relax and reconnect was kind of the best. We chose to do a “staycation” for a few obvious reason. 1. Being 35 weeks pregnant makes it a little difficult to get on a plane or take a really long road trip. 2. I am way to exhausted to sightsee anyway. So being somewhere we know, without the pressure of getting out/exploring was just perfect.

I want to share a few of my favorite places in Laguna. Places to eat, where we stayed, where to shop, where to beach etc!

    WHERE TO STAY:

We stayed at The Casa Laguna Hotel and Spa… the cutest, most quaint little boutique hotel. I was in love. It only has 22 units, very personal, the staff was incredible, design and decor was on point… everything. I loved it all.

    WHERE TO EAT:

Nick’s: Fine Dining American Restaurant with an open air California vibe. This place was sooo yummy… the butter cake was unreal.

Active Culture: We go here all the time. It is so yummy with lots of healthy, vegan options. We love the Wholesome Bowl and Nachos. Legit crazy good.

Starfish: Asian Fusion Dining – Voted best Asian cuisine in Laguna in 2016. We loved the cool vibe and the Pad Thai.

La Sirena: Great Mexican menu with the best chicken enchilada I’ve had.

    WHERE TO TREAT:

Cream: We didn’t make it here… but I heard it is the best ice cream and cookie sandwiches.

Sprinkles Cupcakes & Ice Cream: Just go. Can’t get enough of Sprinkles Cupcakes and then they go and take things to the next level with ICE CREAM. It is so delicious. Try the mint ice cream. YUM.

BJ’s Restaurant: This is Clay’s favorite spot for the Pizzookie. Just a huge, hot cookie pizza topped with tons of ice cream. Can’t get any better.

The Candy Baron: A classic candy store in downtown Laguna. So fun to reminisce on old favorites and stock up for movie night!

Loop: Handcrafted Churros – Just click the link to check out their Insta. You’ll see why you need to make the trip.

Nick’s: yea, already talked about this butter cake but TOTALLY worth mentioning again.

    WHERE TO BEACH:

Victoria Beach: You have probably seen photos of this place. It is pretty incredible. There is an old “castle-like” structure sitting right on the beach that looks like Rapunzel’s tower. Magical spot. Tip: Make sure to go at mid-low tide otherwise the water will be too high to walk around the cliff to see the structure.

Brooks Street Beach: One of the best spots for surfing in Laguna.

    WHERE TO SHOP:

    Fashion Island

    Irvine Spectrum

Downtown Laguna: The perfect place to just meander about, in and out of shops. A few of my favorites are Little Bohemian, Tuvalu and LF.

101: If you have the time, there are sooo many little shops + art galleries scattered along the 101 in Laguna and surrounding. I would love to just take the trolly up and down that street exploring.

Happy Travels! This is a verrrry small list of favorites, mostly just things we actually did and loved while we were there. If you have anything to add, I’d love to know in the comments! 🙂
