So nice of you to drop by!

My name is Mary Lauren. I am a wife to a man usually found in flannel & a mama to the sweetest little guy. We live in a little house near the ocean, spending our days cuddling while the roosters, frogs and horses orchestrate our ongoing soundtrack. My background is in business and economics and some days, I am not sure how that happened. My heart is in design, art, and anything lovely… really. I have an unhealthy obsession for tiny gold jewels, mid century thrift finds and succulents.

Stay as long as you’d like, I’d love to hear from you!

Lauren this is bizarre. You completely nailed, word for word, two of my many quirks. Collecting dishes and never using them, and lovig fashion but hating getting ready! Like for REAL, Michael is even laughing about the dish thing. Drives him crazy! We really are sisters. Love the new pic!!

      Hi Makenzie!

Thank you!! You are so sweet.

I use a few different programs to put words onto pictures. I used to use photoshop a lot, but now I use the app “phonto” on my phone or Picasa (both you can download for free I believe.) I prefer photoshop when I have the time, but the other 2 make it so fast, sometimes I can’t resist taking the short cut!

I’m moving there (Carlsbad) in a few months from Ocean Beach SD. Not that I want your address but I’m very interested in a country road by the ocean. Is there more than housing developments there? Is it a far drive to the beach?

          Hello!!

Sorry for the late response! We live on the Vista Carlsbad border, south of the 78 fwy. For us, its about a 10 minute drive to the closest beach which would be Oceanside.

It’s a very unique area… not much like it in North County.

This is actually a letter board that has interchangeable plastic letters. This idea was just floating in my head… not sure if it’s a quote, but I certainly can’t be the first person to have said it. The boards are great though. They are by @letterfolkco if you want to check them out. BUT! I will be selling something similar to this in the next month or so in my easy shop. So check back if you’d like! 🙂

As a photographer I am interested to know how you take many of your pictures with yourself and your beautiful boy? Do you have someone take them for you or use tripod/remote?

Hi Mary Lauren, totally in love with your blog and photographs. I see you never do clarify who takes your family pics! They look super professional but wondering who tags along on all your family adventures to capture such wonderful memories? All we manage is a rather distorted family selfie where most of us look -well frankly – rather frazzled! 😉 how do you do it? X Nats

It just depends! 🙂 Anytime we have a photo out and about of the three of us, we are usually just with friends and they snap it for us. If we are at home we occasionally pull out the tripod, but that’s a lot of work so only on rare occasion. ha!
