Spotty Home Office Makeover

Seeing how it all turned out and how much work this little makeover actually took, I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner! This room sits right in the middle of the house, right next to the playroom. The doors are always open and the “eyesore” just threatened every sense of my being, daily. ???? I hated it. I had put a tiny bit of effort there: got a desk from world market that I did like, hung up my favorite Mandi Nelson print… but it was just bare and I gave up, putting my energy elsewhere.

Firstly, I was inspired by this wall paper. I saw it, fell in love and wanted to use it somewhere… but WHERE?! It’s super busy, very eye catching… the space needed to be small, I thought. The office just made sense. And so the brainstorming began.

I found the chairs on amazon for sooo cheap. I think $120 for both. I also wanted to upgrade our desk situation from a single to a double desk. Clay and I are often working side by side and one of us was always kicked to the sofa or the floor… so this was a must. If we were doing this makeover, we might as well do it right.

This desk situation was inspired by Le Petite Studio, a shared workspace in Minneapolis via the The Every Girl. Perfect, cheap solution to our problem. It’s from ikea, we used the Finnvard legs and a mismatched table top. It’s a little unconventional… didn’t fit exactly how it is supposed to with the predrilled holes on the bottom of the tabletop, but we just screwed the legs into the table top. It fit perfectly in the space. Voila!

The part that really stumped me was the wall decor. I searched FOREVERRR for the right thing to hang. Nothing seemed to work with this crazy wallpaper. Just too much. I finally decided on the shelf and love how it turned out! The minimalist framed photos keep things a little under control by adding white blank space and the plants bring a bit of life to the room.

I really love how it turned out, especially love the whimsical sense about it. It sits right off the playroom so I wanted to keep it fun and not too serious. ????

The desk legs are linked in the post, they are from Ikea. The table top is also from Ikea, but I don’t have the link, we just bought one that fit our space, it didn’t necessarily go with the legs we chose.

Thanks! The brackets are from Ikea and the wood we just bought at the hardware store and painted it white.
