Master Bedroom Refresh

It has only been a year and 2 months since we moved into this house… that’s not too long right?! ???? Sometimes it takes me a little while to get motivated or to start caring about putting a space together. I can also blame the pregnancy a little bit. I got pregnant about 2 weeks after we moved in… so that put a little damper on my motivation and energy level. ???? So here we are, over a year later, and I can finally say I feel like we have a little sanctuary of our own that I really, truly love. And although it has pink sheets, some pink pillows… just a whole lot of pink accents, Clay loves it too, (although it took a tiny bit of bribery to get him to oblige to sleeping in pink sheets.)

Can I just say quickly, though. Who says pink is a “girl” color anyway?! Who ever decided that? Is it in our DNA? Are we just brainwashed in our adolecense that men can never be sleeping in pink sheets? It is absurd. Silly. That was my argument when trying to bring him to the dark side… or the pink side, rather. And it worked.

Anywho… Happy with the space, happy with our budget, and feel like we did pretty well for not wanting to spend an arm and a leg! The whole project cost under $2000 I believe! Bed, sofa, rug included. (We got our bed and sofa on sale. We also found our rug on craigslist… someone had purchased it new and couldn’t return it… it just happened to be the one I was wanting to buy, so that was lucky!)

I linked all my favorite items below! My favorite is the little vanity space. I have always wanted one, never had one. I feel like I am finally in a place in my life where if I want a vanity space, I’ll get myself a vanity space! ????????

A few notes: My vanity chair is from IKEA and I spray painted the legs gold. Just incase you are confused that it does not look the same. Also, the dresser in our bedroom is vintage (another craigslist find)… so I linked a similar one. The paint color we chose is called Kendall Charcoal!

Love the space, especially all the natural light and artwork! Also, in regards to the pink sheets: did you know that pink used to be considered a “masculine” color? I read about it in the Smithsonian Magazine a while ago. Here’s the piece, if you’re interested: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/when-did-girls-start-wearing-pink-1370097/
    Again, great job! 🙂
