My A+ Skin Care Routine Using Essential Oils

Headed Somewhere BlogMy skin has never been perfect. I feel like I am always jumping around, trying this and that, spending $60 on face wash that is supposedly going to accomplish everything I had ever dreamed, leaving my face looking dewey and fresh with a hint of sun kiss… maybe a little like Gisele Bundchen.

I’ve decided to go a different direction with my skin care routine after realizing how LONG and arduous my process was. I am all about simplifying and moving in a more natural direction.

I found this simple recipe and decided to give it a try. Turns out, I am obsessed… It leaves my skin silky smooth, cuts oil, and it smells amazing.

For combination skin:

1 part Castor Oil

3 parts another carrier oil of your choice. (liquified coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil or sweet almond oil.)

5-10 drops each essential oil. (Lemon, Lavender & Frankincense)

Glass bottle with dropper (Not necessary, but nice to have. I bought mine at a health food store for $3.50)

THAT’S IT! 🙂

NOTE: Lemon and lavender do great things for problem acne prone skin, frankincense works for wrinkles and naturally fights aging.

Make sure to use the combination that is best for YOUR skin:

Oily Skin – 1 part Castor Oil to 2 parts other oil, or 30% Castor Oil and 70% other oils
Combination Skin – 1 part Castor Oil to 4 parts other oil, or 20% Castor Oil and 80% other oils
Dry Skin – 1 part Castor Oil to 9 parts other oil, or 10% Castor Oil to 90% other oils

Directions:

Wet your face with warm water, use dime sized amount of wash. I use a wash cloth to scrub and exfoliate with the essential oil wash. It gives me a really deep clean feel.

I have a spin brush that I use to clean my face too and I love it! It always makes my face feel clean and so soft! I can’t wait to try this face wash! I have been on the hunt for a new one since everything I have tried so far leaves my face so dry! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Mary, this sounds amazing! do you thing I could leave the frankincense out and just use Lemon and Lavender? This oil is too dear for me at the moment …

      Hi Lorena!

Definitely. Lemon and Lavender work great together. Frankincense is just an added bonus for aging/fine lines. Just use a few more drops of both lemon and lavender to make up for it! 🙂

Let me know how it works and how you like it!

My brush is on order and my oils are ready and waiting! I have needed a way to get my essential oils worked evenly into my skin as a facewash during my skincare routine and this brush is the perfect tool. I have been humming and hawing about whether to purchase this tool and your post convinced me — Thank you! I have hopes your face wash will work wonders for me as well! xo

Hi there! I wondered whether you could recommend another oil rather than lavender. My daughter is allergic to lavender and I would like to make an oil for her as well. Hope you can help–

I definitely need to try this. Every store bought facial cleanser I’ve tried was horrible! They clean your skin but leave it looking and feeling awful. I’ve never tried making my own before so this will be something new 🙂

I’m definitely going to try this face wash as like you I havetried cleanser after cleanser. My question for you is What do you use for a moisturizer?

    • mary.l.johnson1@gmail.com says:

I don’t use a moisturizer with this cleanser. The oil itself is moisturizing enough. But that is my skin type.
